The BC Libraries Cooperative (BCLC) today announced that Ben Hyman, Executive Director, will resign his position effective February 13, 2017 for a new opportunity at Vancouver Island University.

On behalf of the BCLC Board, Chair Tracey Therrien said, “Not only has Ben led BCLC through tremendous growth, along the way he has made meaningful connections with members across the country helping ensure the Co-op’s vision and services were relevant to the membership. He has also developed key partnerships that have been crucial to the success of the Co-op.  BCLC was fortunate to have a leader such as Ben at the helm over the last six years; I know I speak for past and present directors when I say thank you for your leadership and commitment to working together to improve services for all.”

“It has truly been a privilege to work with the boards, membership and staff at the Co-op over the last six years,” said Hyman, “Building and growing the Co-op with our community has been amazing. I leave knowing how much we have achieved together, that the Co-op is in good hands and poised for continued success on behalf of the members it serves.”

A special committee of the Board has begun the search for a new Executive Director. In the interim, the Board executive and Co-op management will play a larger role in the oversight of critical member and partner relationships. Hyman has also offered to assist with leadership transition in a limited capacity through the 2017 BCLC Annual General Meeting.
