Staffing Changes at the Co-op

July 6, 2015

July sees big changes for the Systems group at the BC Libraries Cooperative. After many years of dedicated service, we are bidding farewell to our lead Systems Administrator Robin Johnson. Robin has been an incredibly valuable contributor to the Co-op’s successes, helping to improve and expand our systems whilst bringing his expert skills to technical problems large and small. He is leaving us for what he’s described as his “dream job” at DreamHost where he will continue expanding on a technology that he championed while at the Coop. We wish him much success in the future and invite all who have benefited from his expertise & service to wish him a fond farewell too.

We are pleased to announce that after a long search, we’ve found an equally dynamic and qualified person to take up the challenge of lead systems administrator for the Coop. Starting July 6 Kevin Woolley (@justdoglet on twitter) will be joining the systems group full time. Kevin comes to us from ActiveState, a local Vancouver tech powerhouse (that happens to be the home of another illustrious Co-op alumni, James Fournie) where he has been a systems admin since 2007. One of the many things that won us over about Kevin was his statement during his interview that “Libraries make people like me” attesting to the educational opportunites they had offered him as a young man. We think he’s going to fit in swell here, and urge you to welcome him on board too.
