Update on October 8 server outtage

At 9am PDT the Co-op experienced a full-scale outage of our servers and infrastructures. This was caused by a backup power generator at our co-location facility unexpectedly failing. While power was restored relatively quickly at that facility, the abrupt outtage did cause problems in the Co-op’s servers coming back online. The systems team managed to restore the majority of services by 11:45am, with full service resuming closer to 1pm.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this unplanned outtage caused and are reviewing systems and procedures to help minimize downtime in the future. Please feel free to direct any questions, comments or concerns to the Co-op’s Systems Manager at scott.leslie@bc.libraries.coop.
